When we sort out specs, I can substitute magnet types (a3 or a5) on your request at no extra cost Wire: choose from FORMVAR,ENAMEL OR POLY. (42 AWG or 43 AWG) Bobbin: Vulcanized fiberboard black….ask about grey bottoms too. Potted: I can wax pot them (4:1 paraffin/beeswax @ 150deg F) or I can leave them unpotted. your choice Polarity: your spec. Leads:white/black 22 awg cloth pushback 12 inches long. +/- 1 inch….Middle pickup, yellow positive wire. Resistance: your spec. New offering:I have some Callaham base plates for the bridge pickups. I bought a few to try out and I have to say that they have my seal of approval. Here is what the website says: Callaham Base Plate for single coil Strat Bridge Pickups boosts the lows and the mid range frequencies giving a fatter wider sound. I recommend adding a base plate to existing instruments if they do not have one. Installation instructions included. I think they sound a bit like a tele. not quite but similar. try one for yourself…..I’ll install it on your set for an additional $12. These will come with a set of springs or rubber tubing, screws and a set of covers. select from black, aged white or white. I also want to point out that I will ship world wide. I know that shipping to Europe,Canada and Australia is pretty painless and not very expensive(In the $32 U.S. range. Had a wired pick guard ready for the new pickups. Installed pickups and after playing and adjusting overall I,m pleased. The pickups I replaced with yours were the Fralin Woodstock, I pretty good sounding pickup. It is not really a fare comparison because the pickups are different. The amp I’m playing is a “built by me” push/pull 6v6 using PIO capacitors,carbon comp.resistors 12ay7 preamp. tubes. Modified tone circuit between a Fender Bassman and Super Reverb. I can crank this thing to 12 and it stays clean. The 6v6 just compress a little. I call it “Mr.Clean”. OK, overall your pickups are brighter, the low E has a piano guilty to it. The tone is Straty and clean. The hybrid stagger works well with the warmoth neck. “compound radius” I really expected for the D string to be strong given the pole height,but it’s really not. These pickups will stay in this guitar and the real test will be playing with others. I expect for my playing to be noticed {good or Bad} I have some thoughts on pickups for another guitar. I’ll contact you later. ALLEN …I played your pickups through another amp. Another build, similar to a JTM45. This combination resulted in a full fat tone in neck/middle and a twangy clean tone in the bridge .Sounds really good. Next I’ll try some pedals. So far I’m really happy with these pickups. The lower power doesn’t hit the preamp very hard, but pedals can do that for some drive. ALLEN I received my handwound Alnico 5 set today and wanted to let you know.I will be leaving feedback shortly and will install the pickups in one of my Strats this weekend. They certainly look a lot better than anything I have bought by Rio Grande, Fralin or Duncan. I will definitely let you know how they sound. Well that’s the fastest delivery ever! Installed in a rather dark sounding agathis body with a maple neck. After a little height adjusting I got some rockin tone going. I love the bridge, which I usually don’t on a strat, & the neck,which everyone loves on a strat. The middle was good too, not as great as the other two. The combination positions were OK but not as cool as the bridge or neck alone. I noticed the closer I could get them to the strings the better I liked them. Also, they are dead quiet,very cool. I wonder if you ever make any flat magnet pickups? I love those Seymour Duncan quarter pounders. They are wayhot &have alnico5 magnets. I prefer the alnico2 over them & the 3s. I wouldn’t need them hot like the duncans because I could raise them up like I do humbuckers. I am very pleased with your sound let me know on the flat pickups. My daily duties include analysis of various solutions through wet chemistry methods and by use of anatomic absorption spectrophotometer. I also analyze finished products through coulometry. I have an analytical mind but I’m also creative so I set out to expand my horizons Music has always been a love of mine and in July ’10 enrolled in the guitarand bass electronics and set up course at the Chicago school of guitar making.This course opened up many doors in my mind and I thought about the many waysthat I could apply this knowledge. It also inspired me to learn more and more about guitars and making them (lutherie). One day I ran intoa problem with a pickup and the local repair guy couldn’t fix it. I decided to read and learn about how pickups were made, I read anything I could get my hands on and eventually I figured out the problem! After all of this I set out on a quest to make a pickup from scratch and WOUND 4 SOUND was born. Through a lot of trial and error I figured out the best way to do it with the tools that Ihave and result is what you see here, pickups that are made by hand in the USA.While I did read everything I could get my hands on I still don’t see myself asa know-it-all. I still read and still look for ways to improve in any way possible…..One more thing to add is that in early November ’11 I completed a pickup winding course at Roberto-Venn (Phoenix, Az) taught by Jason Lollar. I was able to gain more insight in the pickup winding process that would have taken me a lot longer to learn on my own. Well worth every penny. With all that being said, I still have to tell you that I don’t want your money, I want you to be totally happy and I want you to come back every time that you want or need another pickup. The relationship is the most important thing! If at any time you are having issues with your pickups due to faulty parts or workmanship while you still own them, I will repair or replace the pickup free of charge. Iwill have more pickups coming and if you don’t see any that you want, send me your specs and I can make some for you. I have formvar, plain enamel and solderon wire to choose from. I also have alnico 2,3 and 5 magnets. For bobbins I use vulcanized fiberboard (black or grey) and plastic.
